Wonderful things to do and see in and around Park City

Park City Culture

Park City’s diverse list of cultural events and offerings rival those of many larger and more cosmopolitan areas.  From performing and visual arts to culinary and wine events, a host of fine dining, and spectator sporting events, there truly is something to suit every whim and interest throughout the year.

Main Street’s historic Egyptian Theatre offers musicals, plays and standup comedy on a weekly basis. The Park City Film Series features screenings of the latest independent and foreign films. Park City Performing Arts Foundation brings national music acts to the Eccles Center in the winter and the outdoor amphitheater at Deer Valley throughout the summer. Utah Symphony & Opera’s Deer Valley Music Festival offers numerous concerts during the summer months. On Thursdays throughout the summer, there is live music outdoors just a few minutes from The Preserve at Newpark Town Center, as well as at The Canyons.  The Park City Food and Wine Classic has become an established event in July for culinary and wine aficionados, attracting an array of wineries and celebrated chefs from the area. The Park City Kimball Arts Festival occupies Main Street the first weekend of August and permits national and international artists to showcase their works to thousands of art lovers. As it turns out, our little town’s art festival is one of the biggest arts festivals in the country.

Some of our additional annual events include the Old Fashioned 4th of July celebration, Park City Miner’s Day (Labor Day), Pioneer Day Celebration, and then there’s the Sundance Film Festival, one of the world’s largest and most renowned gatherings of filmmakers, celebrities and entertainment-related companies. Hosted every January, it seems that New York and Hollywood descend upon Park City, and provides locals and visitors alike to a wide array of the latest in independent films and star-studded parties.

Park City’s dining and nightlife scene is as varied as its recreational offerings. Newpark Town Center, Redstone, and Main Street are bursting with restaurants that cater to every taste and style and provide impressive wine selections typically expected in more urban settings. Cuisine options include Italian, Southwestern, Asian, French, Mediterranean, and contemporary American. The Park City Area Restaurant Association organizes the Savor the Summit event to kick off each summer. Closing to vehicular traffic, Main Street is lined with a Grande Table, with restaurants hosting the town’s largest outdoor dinner party for thousands of attendees.

Park City’s cultural life truly complements the recreational offerings and beautiful environment. The most difficult aspect of living here is deciding what to do next!
